Fentanyl and Xylazine Test Strips
Test strips can detect the presence of fentanyl or xylazine in any drug batch, including non-opioids.
Overdose Prevention Kits
Naloxone/Narcan is a medicine that temporarily reverses the effects of an opiate overdose to prevent death. Opiates include drugs like oxycodone, codeine, fentanyl, and heroin. Naloxone training is available monthly at no cost at Cook County Higher Education. Registration is available on their website (https://mycche.org/events/).
Grand Portage Human Services offers Peer Recovery Services for the Grand Portage Community. There are two harm reduction vending machines located at Human Services and at the car wash which are accessible any time. Comprehensive Assessments are available for the Grand Portage community.
Sawtooth Mountain Clinic (SMC) provides medical and behavioral health treatment options for alcohol dependence, opioid use disorders, and tobacco cessation. SMC’s mission is to provide high-quality health care to everyone, regardless of ability to pay. Financial assistance is available through programs such as the Sliding Fee Scale. We accept most major public and private insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid.
Wilderness Outpatient Treatment is staffed by a Licensed Drug and Alcohol Drug Counselor (LADC) who conducts comprehensive assessments, provides one-to-one support and consultation, and conducts outpatient, group treatment services in Cook County. Outpatient services are held in the PHHS department at the Cook County Courthouse.
